Indian National Finals Rodeo Hall of Fame

Indian National Finals Rodeo Hall of Fame 2011 was the first year the INFR established the Indian National Finals Rodeo Hall of Fame. The
first year inductees were founders and/or past commissioners of the INFR. Those inducted were Pete Fredericks, Fred Gladstone, Mel Sampson, Bob Arrington, Dean Jackson, and Jay Harwood. The inductees and their families were featured and inaugurated during the 2011 Indian National Finals Rodeo at the South Point Equestrian Center in Las Vegas, NV.

The INFR is excited to announce that nomination forms and guidelines have been established for the up and coming years. If you believe an Indian Cowboy and/or Cowgirl has deserved the right to be inducted into the Indian National Finals Rodeo Hall of Fame please review the criteria and submit your nomination form. Five new inductees will be added each year and inaugurated during the Indian National Finals Rodeo.

JUNE, 2011 RULE CHANGES:

June 28, 2011

Regions Presidents:

The following are rules that will go in effect as of June 28, 2011.

The INFR has updated the permit rule.  Non-member contestants can enter on permits at region and Tour rodeos.  The permit is good for just one rodeo.  Contestants can purchase a permit as many times as they would like but each time the permit will be $50. The permits will be purchased through the local entries for tour rodeos and have to be paid along with the entry fee prior to entries closing. The INFR retains the $50 permit fee from all rodeos.

At all Tour and Region Rodeos the barrel racing will be raked based on the following. If it is a long and short go rodeo; the rake will be half the number in the short round. So if there are going to be 10 in the short round, the entire rodeo will be raked after every 5 barrel racers. And it is after every 5 on the list whether they compete or not. If it is a one go rodeo, the rake will not be more than after every 7. Again, after 7 whether they run or not. This is a safety precaution for our members and their
animals.

The ground condition at all region and tour rodeos needs to be safe.  It will be up to the judges to determine at the beginning of each rodeo if the ground is safe for the barrel racing event. Committees will be fined for unsafe ground in accordance with rule R7.15.1.

If you have any questions, please contact me at the INFR office.

Sincerely,

Donna Hoyt

INFR

January 19, 2011

Dear Presidents:

Happy New Year and Happy 2011 Rodeo Season !!!

A few things to remind you all about before we all get off and running.

Annual Region payment dates are:  January 30th - $1500 – July 30th $1500.
Tour Applications Deadlines: March 15 - $300 – June 1st - $500 – after June 1st - to be determined.  Remember applications need to be turned in at least 30 days prior to rodeo.
Also, Regions can now do 3 tour rodeos.

We would like to get the tour rodeo schedule done as soon as possible, so please get them in as quickly as possible.

Reminder all membership cards need to be purchased through the INFR office.  Please let your members know in advance prior to any region rodeos that are scheduled.

If you have any region rodeos that you want put on the website send us the list.

Again, thank you for your time and support in the INFR and if you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to call us at the INFR office.

Below is an update on the rule changes.

Rule Changes
Point system for region rodeos has changed:  The points system in the regions will now be from 10-1.  Ground money will be split 50/50 between the region and the rodeo committee; the sudden death rule will remain the same where second in the year will go if the year end wins the sudden death spot.

Jr./Sr. Cards
Jr. cards can be sold to those that are 15 and under as of November 1, 2011(this means that if someone turns 16 in the months before the INFR they will not be eligible to compete at the INFR).  Sr cards will be sold to those that are 50 at the time of card purchase.

Tour Rodeos
A big change this year is that regions can now host 3 Tour Rodeos as long as one has a minimum of $4000 added per event (the other 2 must still have at least $2000). As well, none of the 3 can be out sanctioned.

This means that there will be more rodeos so get your applications in early. There could be 3 rodeos on one weekend but we will do our best to avoid this situation and/or make sure the rodeos are compatible with each other.

Judges
Lastly, we are looking for a region that would be interested in hosting the judging seminar. The region would be responsible for all costs but they will also be able to collect/charge for attendees. We recommend $100-150 so you are similar to the PRCA clinic. If anyone is interested please contact Bo and he will see when he can get Tommy Keith to do a clinic. Yes it has to be Tommy. Why? Because the PRCA has done this for years and he is the head of PRCA judges and clinics, and has worked our rodeo and worked with our judges and knows our rules. The INFR will credential attendees that pass per instructor’s recommendation. Remember if you use INFR judges at your region events, you can charge $4 per contestant per INFR judge.  No use in trying to reinvent the wheel. We recommend that if you haven't attended a clinic, go just to learn more to make yourself and your region better.

Good Luck!!
